Validation rule to use

Use the sentence Invalid when [...] to set a field to be triggered when a limit is reached.

Validation rules available

Invalid when empty

Allows to set a field as invalid when it is empty / not empty.

Alternative rules:

  • Invalid when not empty

Invalid when checked

Allows to set a checkbox field as invalid if it is checked.

Alternative rules:

  • Invalid when unchecked

Invalid when U

Allows to set an option button field as invalid if an option is selected.

Alternative rules:

  • Invalid when S

  • Invalid when C

  • Invalid when NC

  • Invalid when Yes

  • Invalid when No

  • Invalid when NA

Invalid when Combolist_item

Allows to set a drop-down list field as invalid if an item from a combo or multi list is selected.
NB: This does not work and apply to external lists. (list with Updated by rule)

Alternative rules:

  • Invalid when not Combolist_item

Invalid when Text

Allows to set a text field as invalid if a string is typed in the field.

Alternative rules:

  • Invalid when not Text

Invalid when Value

Allows to set a numeric field as invalid when a value is typed in the field.

Alternative rules:

  • Invalid when not Value
