As you build and create your form templates in a specific, default language, there are situations where you require to add translations to accomodate users that might not understand entirely that language.

By using a lexicon within the form template, you can add possible translations based on the different languages your users are speaking/reading and can change their settings to get forms in that language automatically.

The translation is used to offer your system's forms in a language programmed to your liking for your users who have more difficulty understanding your default language used in your forms.

It is important to know that:

Within the spreadsheet of your form template, you should see in the bottom left corner of the window a tab containing the actual version of your template.

Paperless Forms automatically reads the first tab on the left, which should always be the current version.

Starting at the tab next to the current version's one, you need to create a new tab called Lexicon. It can be placed in any order starting at the right of the first tab.

In this new Lexicon tab, you will start creating your current template translations:

Importing a form with missing translations will work and the yellow will be removed.

Depending on the language set in the user settings, they will see the form in that selection, but only if a translation for that language is provided through the Lexicon tab.

If a translation is not provided for the selected language, it will revert back to the default language instead.

There are two settings that can be set up for each user using Paperless Forms, through the Manage users subsection from the Paperless Forms website:

While filling a form, only if a translation is available, the first button in the top left corner of the screen will be available to switch between the different offered languages.

When leaving the form and entering again, it will revert back to the user's preferred language setting.

Based on the language set up in the user's profile and the company's default language, the option buttons and numeric units will be automatically set to the right language.

You created a Lexicon tab, but it only contains the Default column or contains a column that is using a wrong language code.

Add at least a second column with a valid language code or rectify an entered wrong language code.

You added the same word twice to translate in your Lexicon tab.

Review the duplicates within your Excel spreadsheet, in the Lexicon tab specifically, to avoid duplicates values.

The translation button is grayed out, preventing the selection of a language to test the translation.

The button is grayed out because no Lexicon tab has been created, or there is a spelling error in the word.

Create a Lexicon tab or correct the name if it exists.

You have something, listed or not in the Lexicon, that has no translation for it in the selected and displayed language.

Yellow will display to show you where you missed a translation.
In combos and multis, a yellow bar will show, and once you are within the list, you will see the same yellow format on the text.
